My College Stress First-Aid Kit
It's my second year in college and I deal with the pains school brings me almost every day. Why not blog about it and maybe help some others out along the way?

On the prowl...Apartment hunting
I would just like to rant a little bit today about how crazy and annoying apartment hunting is. I don't know if anyone has ever been in this predicament, but let me just say its pretty awful. Especially when you live on campus at UPG now, but you're looking for apartments in Oakland, and the real-estate agents want you to pay a $40.00 application fee AND put your $300 security deposit down all at the same time. Oh and I should probably mention that I'm still waiting to hear back from the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences to see if I'm even accepted yet. You can all probably picture the angry, stressed out face I'm making while my fingers are loudly banging out my keyboard right now. But on a lighter note, I'm still getting used to the whole blogging thing. I want to play with it more and tweek my page a bit. Hopefully I'll have time for that later when I'm done with my physics lab report, and after work tonight...(Steam coming off my head). I can complain about work and physics another time thought, and on that note off to start the not-so-fun homework.

I think application fees are unnecessary… what exactly is the point in it? Good luck in finding an apartment! I am living on campus right now but worry about finding a place later on; can't always live with the parents...
ReplyDeleteI know!? The security deposit is already equal to one months rent, so the application fee is just another excuse to suck some more money out of you. Oh well nothing I can do, they have the power unfortunately. But its definitely better searching with friends than on your own. I don't know what I'd do if I'd be doing this all by myself..
ReplyDeleteyeah, i agree...having someone with you (especially friends, becuase with parents, it sometimes gets dramatic)it gives you a support system and extra eyes and another set of opinions.
