My College Stress First-Aid Kit

It's my second year in college and I deal with the pains school brings me almost every day. Why not blog about it and maybe help some others out along the way?

Why is left over Olive Garden so good?

During this stressful finals week, two of my friends and I decided to get dinner at Olive Garden. Binge eating? Maybe. So what? Oh well.

We went on Monday, and it is obviously now Wednesday and I still have left over beef tortellini. Which I am chowing down now. Left overs are the best part of going to Olive Garden by far.

It's like you get to enjoy the goodness now and later. This always happens to me too, no matter what I order. Even if it's just soup, salad, and breadsticks. I usually end up having left over soup. It's great. Now I get to enjoy the stress eating deliciousness, not once, but twice this week.

Need dinner plans to get away from the stress of finals? I recommend Olive Garden. Always a winner.

The before finals stress

I'll never understand why professors think it is a good idea to squeeze in a last test the week before finals. As if next week isn't going to be stressful enough.

I'll never get it.

I have two exams this week, then three finals next week. Gahh.

Anyone else having this problem? It seems to happen to me every semester. I should just get used to it by now.

Summer Stressors

Ten more days left of classes, then finals week. Where did the year go? I can't believe my sophomore year of college is winding down.

Even though the school year is almost over, I feel like my summer will be just as busy. I recently found out I need to take a few summer classes. I need to get caught up on the electives I need for this Exercise Science program. I'm also going to be working as much as possible all summer. I have to save up for rent since I'm living off campus in Oakland.

The stress/ work never ends.

Anyone else worrying about summer classes this year? Or their summer job? I'll be working at a greenhouse like I did last summer. Fun fun fun. I learn a lot about flowers though.

Things are looking up

I've been meaning to post about this for a few days now.

Last week I found out that I was accepted into Pitt's School of Education's Exercise Science program. I just found out about the program from Beth Tiedeman (who is an angel by the way) the week before spring break. I applied last minute, and heard the good news last week.

I told you guys that I had originally applied to Health and Rehab, and was upset that I didn't get in. But I'm slowly but surely starting to believe that everything happens for a reason, so maybe this is how things are supposed to fall together for me. I'm happy because I finally feel like something is going right for me this year.

Like I said before, if your plan A doesn't work out for you, try not to worry. Keep your head up, and look at your other options. Something will work out, and everything will be alright.

I'm very excited to start in the program. I had my first advising meeting yesterday, and the program seems so interesting.

Yay!

Relaxation quick tip

I suggest everyone light a candle while you study. Not only is it relaxing, and smells good, but I also find them to help me focus a little better. I don't know what it is about their little glow, but I swear it helps.

I have one lit right this second. Good thing too, because I have a whole lab report to type tonight. Fun fun.

Good reads

I missed the speaker at last nights blogging class, and was told we were supposed to post about a book that is similar to our blog.

I googled books about college and came across a book called Losing It. I found it on a website called Good Reads , and it looks very interesting.

Here is what the website has to say about the book:

Virginity.

Bliss Edwards is about to graduate from college and still has hers. Sick of being the only virgin among her friends, she decides the best way to deal with the problem is to lose it as quickly and simply as possible-- a one-night stand. But her plan turns out to be anything but simple when she freaks out and leaves a gorgeous guy alone and naked in her bed with an excuse that no one with half-a-brain would ever believe. And as if that weren't embarrassing enough, when she arrives for her first class of her last college semester, she recognizes her new theatre professor. She'd left him naked in her bed about 8 hours earlier.

Now this book doesn't seem like it has anything to do with school work, or  complaining about the weather while walking to class. However, this definitely seems like a college pain. This book also seems like it could tie into my classmate Whitly's blog Awkward. I mean, thats definitely one of the most awkward situations I've ever heard of, whether its true or not. You should check out Whitly's blog it is hilarious.

In the mean time I might go by Losing It for a summer read.
