Along with Surviving College Life, I've been checking out another blog called Things Every College Girl Should Know. They have a lot of great tips on there, and not just for girls, for guys too. I found a great workout post on here. I've come to realize that working out is a great stress reliever, and an even better way to clear your mind.
So, theres this thing called interval running. You switch it up during your run from a light jog, to a sprint, back to a jog, then to a walk, and so on. Interval running is a great way to burn calories other than regular running, and it is also a better way to keep a good heart rate. Well, the Things Every College Girl Should Know blog posted a great interval running workout thats actually not too hard. It goes as follows:
2:00 light jog
:30 second sprint
:30 second walk
1:30 light jog
:30 second sprint
1:00 light jog
:30 second sprint
1:00 light jog
:30 second walk
Then repeat 3-5 times, or until your desired workout is finished.
I tried this workout yesterday, and it really wasn't too difficult. It was so much less boring then regular running, because you're changing your pace every minute or so. If you don't think you are ready for the sprinting, then you can just alternate from a light jog to a walk. Thats still interval training, so you would still be burning calories, and keeping that heart rate up. Let me know if anyone decides to try this.
Happy hump day everyone.
Good stuff! I'm going to give this a try!
ReplyDeleteI'll try this. Hopefully it motivates me. But probably not.
ReplyDeletePretty much HIIT. I laugh when I see people running at a pedestrian 5.5 on the treadmills for 45 minutes. I just wantto shoult dude, quit staring at the wall, grow a pair and go outside and condense that 45 minute waste of time into 12 minutes of HIIT and burn a lot more calories.
ReplyDeleteI agree. It can be hard sometimes to get motivated for a workout, especially when having to uproot and go to a gym. Thinking about how good you would FEEL after helps to get moving.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the feedback guys! Yes please let me know if anyone tries it. Kramer, I agree its annoying seeing people jog like that for so long. And I get mad at some point because I think they're working out harder than me. I guess they really aren't though. What is this HIIT I've never heard of it? And you're right Alexandria, I never feel like working out at first, but always feel better about myself afterwards.
